A ‘skin check’ can be defined as a comprehensive assessment and examination of an asymptomatic patient for any evidence of skin cancer. Skin cancer is common and accounts for approximately 80 percent of all newly diagnosed cancers in Australia. An annual skin check is recommended and can be completed by your regular GP. They will monitor the skin and take note of any changes or lesions.
